Nothing throws me into a panic like June 25th! I’m like Chicken Little running around in circles yelling the sky is falling.
I have big plans for 2018: places to go, people to see, things to do. I’ve been busy these past six months for sure but when I dusted off my written (handwritten) 2018 goals, I calmed down a bit. Do they need a few mid-year tweaks? Absolutely, but that’s normal.
Of my 5 goals:
- One goal is completed.
- Two have been taking a lot of work/time but are on track.
- One has been started but I’m making slower progress than planned so I need to adjust the end date and get some more action steps and discipline around it.
- And one I have not started, truth be told, I kind of forgot I had written that last one down. But I still think it is a great goal for me for the year so mid-year is a great reminder to get going on it.
I was happy that all 5 of this year’s goals were written in action-oriented language and pass the SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and time-bound) test. I think that has helped stay focused on them (well most of them).
Also, none of my 5 personal goals had to do with losing weight or eating healthy – those are not goals those are lifestyle choices that are front and center all the time for me at this point in my life.
So, I hope you take this half-way to Christmas day to take a peek and reset your goals and then (SUPER EXCITED) to announce that the Christmas movies start today, yep, a mid-year marathon of Christmas movies. So, you know where I’ll be – glued to the t.v. which will surely get me motivated to start my own countdown to Christmas – cards to order, lists to make, parties to play – oh my!
