This was going to be the Summer of our European vacation. The kids were finally old enough to one, remember it and two, enjoy it.
We’ve had some great vacations in the past but we’ve been saving up for this one – the last big family trip before our oldest is off to college.
I hate that we are having to rethink our travel plans, not wanting to put our family at unnecessary risk. And I know things often look worse than they are on t.v. But with the State Department issuing an alert to U.S. travelers in Europe, particularly around sporting events, tourist sites, restaurants and transportation, it definitely gives you pause.
And, I hate to say it, but we’re seriously looking at other options. I hate it because I feel like if we change our plans, they win. But at the same time I don’t want to be nervous or looking over my shoulder the entire time either – it wouldn’t be enjoyable.
So, it’s up in the air where we’ll head this Summer and it just makes me sad and angry that this is the shape the world’s in right now.
