It’s too much! No one needs a 6 foot, 200 pound bear for Christmas. Trust me, no little kid is going to find that cute. I’ve seen lots of great ideas to simplify your giving. I really like the four gift rule: something they want, something they need, something they wear and something they read. I also like the giving back as a family idea by not eating out and instead using those dollars to donate to a charity of the family’s choosing. Putting your gift giving on a diet does not have to feel like punishment and won’t scar your children. If you are going to take the time to buy someone a gift, take the time to make sure it’s from the heart. Instead of the oh, thank you another gift card reaction, you might just get a great big hug, a huge laugh or even happy tears.
